Can CBD Help Relieve a Toothache?

Full Spectrum CBD Oil

There is much discussion over the benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) for chronic conditions including chronic pain, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. But, did you know that CBD may also be beneficial for relieving everyday pains like toothaches. In this blog, we will discuss what a toothache is, what causes it, and how CBD may help you relieve pain.

What Causes a Toothache to Develop?

A toothache is typically caused by some type of infection, cavity, injury to the mouth or gum disease. This can develop over time from poor dental health, poor diet, lack of hydration, or a neglected injury.

If you choose to ignore your toothache, the bacteria buildup on the teeth and gums could eventually spread to the nerves and blood vessels located on the inner part of the teeth. It is always recommended to visit a medical professional if you have a long-lasting or a severe toothache.

Since there still isn’t enough research into the use of CBD in dentistry, the benefits have not been investigated thoroughly. Moreover, the correct dosages may vary from individual to individual.

How CBD May Help Ease the Pain

CBD is a potent, natural anti-inflammatory and may help reduce the pain and inflammation on an affected tooth by interacting with cannabinoid receptors. Some of these receptors may be linked to your pain receptions, and consuming CBD could potentially slow these responses and slow down your perception of pain.

The Best CBD For Me

For this particular type of pain, we recommend using a CBD oil rather than a CBD edible to help with the pain. CBD oil is fast acting and may give you immediate pain relief from more extreme pain.

Depending on your body type and prior use with CBD, we recommend starting with half to a full dropper as 1 dose. If you are a first-time CBD user, start with half of the dropper and see how your body reacts to CBD before increasing your doses.

If you want to try CBD and are unsure about the taste, you can always try adding a few drops of your CBD oil into your favorite beverage. Try using your CBD oil in the morning and see how it affects you throughout the day. If you prefer this method of consumption, you can adjust your dosage according to what best assist your mood and pain.
