It's a lovely March day. Sunny and 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. You wake up, mix some CBD into your coffee, step outside to take it all in....... including all the pollen! If you're anything like me, the beauty of springtime comes with dreaded allergies. It can be so hard to enjoy a lovely day with a stuffed up nose and watery eyes. There is a lot of discussion going on about allergies and what CBD can do to provide relief, so we did some research to see what our products can do to relieve your allergies.
CBD and your Immune System
2005 was a year of promising CBD research. One 05' study found that cannabinoids impair the activation of T-Cells, which are a type of white blood cell that increase antibody response. Active T-Cells mean an increase in histamines. Another study conducted in 2005 showed that CBD aided in preventing cells from releasing histamines. Lower histamine counts result in a lack of allergy symptoms. In addition, many anti-histamines come with a gauntlet of side effects (including extreme drowsiness) that are not present in CBD.
One of the most highly touted benefits of CBD is it's anti-inflammatory properties. This is key when addressing the possibility of using CBD for allergy relief. Nasal pressure, clogged pathways, and congestion, are all symptoms brought on by an inflammatory response to an allergen. So if you have any sort of issues taking antihistamines, it may be time to talk to your physician about using CBD for allergy relief.
