How to Store CBD Oil: Our Guide

Storing CBD oil is something which should be considered well before you purchase the product, especially if you're planning on buying a bulk supply for the year. CBD oil, at least the high-quality we use here at ExperienceCBD, is often going to have a shorter shelf-life than some other brands who choose to add preservatives of sorts. We only offer some of the purest and unaltered CBD oils to our customers as we know this is what you want. With the purity and high-quality we have, comes a reduced shelf-life. There's really no way around this other than to adhere to the recommendations below. If you follow these instructions on how to store CBD oil, you'll find it to last much longer than had you not. Enjoy!

Cool/Refrigerated Environment

A refrigerated or cool environment helps to reduce the degradation of your CBD oil, similarly to food. When you're able to reduce the breakdown of molecules through colder temperatures (not freezing, just cold), you'll find your CBD oil to last much longer than if it were on the kitchen counter within your home at an average temperature of 72F. This method of preservation is simply mimicking the concept of food preservation and we all know that method works quite well.

No, or Very Little Sunlight Exposure

UV rays can alter the compounds of CBD oil. This is why you'll often find the bottles and packaging of CBD oil to be a darker or tinted hue. This is not only for style and aesthetic purposes, it's for preservation of the goods inside as well. This is is a similar concept to the tint on your car's windows. Tinting helps to reduce heat and UV exposure as your drive throughout your area. The tinting on CBD oil bottles and tinctures helps reduce UV exposure and heat, but it's ultimately best to store your CBD oil in a darker environment with little to no sun exposure.

A Clean Environment

Most CBD oil bottles and tinctures tend to have a tight seal, yet once opened, there's always an increased vulnerability of absorption of smells, bacteria, dust, etc... For this reason, it's important you keep your CBD oil in a clean environment to prevent cross-contamination. An easy way to do this is to place your CBD oil in a sterile, ziplock bag and then you won't have to worry about the aforementioned scenarios.
