CBD For Tattoos: What You Need to Know

Can CBD help Tattoos heal?

If you have existing tattoos or are looking to get your first, you have probably done some research into what are the best tattoo aftercare products to use. Well, have you ever thought about using CBD for your tattoo aftercare?  In this blog, we will discuss how CBD may be the most beneficial tattoo aftercare on the market and how you may be able to benefit from it!

What is CBD?

CBD will often be confused with its psychoactive counterpart, THC. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural, non-psychoactive compound found and extracted from the cannabis plant. CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory and can potentially help ease the symptoms of many common ailments.

Before You Get Tattooed

While there has not been enough research to confirm or deny this, many users credit their pain relief to CBD. With that being said, CBD has shown to have a “calming” effect in the sense that you may feel more relaxed after using it. This is why CBD has become so popular, and for those looking to get a tattoo, this may be a great solution. Using CBD oil or taking a CBD edible may help calm your anxiety and may help lessen any nervousness you may feel.

During Your Tattoo Appointment

Because a new tattoo is a fresh wound, inflammation can be a common condition. This is partially why tattoo lovers use CBD, because of its natural anti-inflammatory properties. CBD may help reduce the swelling and pain while you’re getting your tattoo. Thus, if you plan on taking CBD during your tattoo session, keep in mind how long your appointment may be and if you need to take breaks. This will be helpful to determine how much CBD you should take throughout your session.

Tattoo Aftercare

Now that you have your new tattoo it’s time to talk about the aftercare. Typically, you should already have an aftercare routine figured out before getting your new ink because you will probably be in a little bit of pain and discomfort after your appointment. CBD-based tattoo care, such as the Tattoo Rescue, is Non-Comedogenic. This means that the product won’t clog your pores like other creams or lotions. This is extremely beneficial because clogged pores can complicate healing, pull color out of your tattoo and may even lead to infection.

Another benefit to using CBD-based products for your tattoo aftercare is they can be extremely moisturizing. It is important to keep your skin hydrated even after your tattoo heals because it can help prevent the color from fading. If you have a good skin care regimen, you can rest assured that your tattoo will look as good as new for years to come.
